The world is filled with voices that vie for our attention and influence our thoughts and actions. Throughout the day, consider the messages that are sent your way through the media and people. Consciously begin to compare them to what Scripture says about God and His ways.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.--Romans 12:2. People should notice a difference in a Christian's character and conduct when comparing Christians to the rest of the world.
Elijah McCoy invented a cup that automatically dripped oil and it was installed on locomotives. Soon, everyone wanted a "McCoy Cup" because it greatly increased engine efficiency. Because of its popularity, there were many inferior copies made; so many in fact, that train engineers began to demand "the real McCoy" in order to get the genuine article. And that's how the phrase "the real McCoy" originated.

When our conscience is programmed with the truth of God's Word, it detects deviations from the Lord's standards and sends out a warning. The Holy Spirit uses that signal to get our attention. Then, He will reveal what the problem is, give us understanding about it, and show us the right choices to make.
